Job Title: English Teacher Certification Required: English Language Arts (Grades 7-12) Location: Riverhead Charter School Start Date: September 1, 2025Job Description: The Riverhead Charter School is seeking a dynamic and inspiring English Teacher to join our middle and high school faculty. The ideal candidate will cultivate a love of reading, writing, and critical analysis in students, empowering them to become articulate communicators and thoughtful readers.Responsibilities:Design and deliver engaging English Language Arts lessons aligned with NYS Next Generation Learning Standards.Teach a comprehensive ELA curriculum, including literature (various genres and periods), writing (narrative, expository, argumentative, research), grammar, vocabulary, and speaking/listening skills.Foster a classroom environment that encourages active participation, intellectual curiosity, and a passion for language.Provide constructive feedback on student writing and support students in developing their voice and craft.Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse learning needs of all students.Utilize technology to enhance instruction and student engagement.Assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative assessments.Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development and interdisciplinary projects.Maintain accurate records of student performance and communicate effectively with students, parents, and administration.Participate in school-wide events and professional development opportunities.Adhere to all school policies and procedures.Qualifications:Valid New York State Certification in English Language Arts (Grades 7-12).Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.Prior experience teaching English at the secondary level preferred.Strong literary knowledge and a passion for teaching writing.Ability to create a supportive and rigorous learning environment.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Commitment to student success and academic excellence.
