We aim to foster each student's love of learning and academic excellence through a rigorous curriculum, an extended school day, and a supportive environment.Job Summary:We're seeking a passionate and dedicated High School Science Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of New York State Science Learning Standards and a proven ability to create engaging and effective learning experiences for a diverse range of high school students. This teacher will instruct students in grades 9-12 in various scientific disciplines, including Living Environment (Biology), Earth Science, Chemistry, or Physics, depending on the school's needs and the candidate's qualifications.Responsibilities:Design and deliver rigorous science lessons that are aligned with the New York State Learning Standards, Regents exam expectations, and the school's curriculum.Cultivate a positive and intellectually stimulating classroom environment that encourages scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and problem-solving.Employ a variety of teaching methodologies and resources to differentiate instruction and meet the diverse learning styles and needs of all students, including those with IEPs and ELLs.Assess student learning through formative and summative assessments, including lab practicals, projects, experiments, and tests, providing timely and constructive feedback.Please maintain accurate and up-to-date student progress, attendance, and grades records, and communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student performance and growth.Collaborate with fellow science teachers and colleagues to develop and refine curriculum, share best practices, and contribute to a cohesive school-wide academic program.Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with advancements in science education, pedagogical strategies, and relevant technologies.Supervise students in the classroom, laboratory, and potentially off-campus settings (e.g., field trips).Actively uphold and embody the school's mission, vision, and values in all interactions with students, families, and staff.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Science Education or a relevant scientific discipline (required).Valid New York State teaching certification in one or more areas of High School Science (e.g., Biology, Earth Science, Chemistry, Physics) (required).Prior experience teaching science at the high school level, particularly in a diverse educational setting (preferred).Deep content knowledge in the assigned scientific discipline(s) and a strong understanding of the scientific method.Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and classroom management skills.Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented environment and build strong relationships with students, families, and colleagues.A genuine passion for science education, an unwavering commitment to fostering academic success, and a love of learning in every student.Benefits:Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package.A supportive, collaborative, and professional work environment.Ample opportunities for professional growth and leadership development.To Apply:Please apply on OLAS and submit a cover letter, resume, and copies of your teaching certifications to jobs@rcsli.org.
