We seek a dedicated and skilled IT professional to join our team and support our technological infrastructure and users.Position Overview: The IT Support Specialist / IT Coordinator will be responsible for the day-to-day technical operations of Riverhead Charter School, ensuring that all technology systems and devices function effectively to support staff, students, and the educational mission. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strong communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.Key Responsibilities:Technical Support:Provide timely and effective troubleshooting and resolution of hardware and software issues for staff and students.Offer comprehensive support for various school devices, including printers, projectors, smartboards, Chromebooks, iPads, desktops, and other peripherals.Network & Infrastructure:To ensure reliable connectivity, I'd like you to maintain the school's Wi-Fi and LAN/WAN networks.Monitor bandwidth utilization and implement robust network security measures.Device Management:Manage and maintain an accurate inventory of all technology equipment.Set up and deploy new devices, including imaging, configurations, and software installations.If applicable, support and maintain the school's 1:1 program (e.g., Chromebooks or iPads for students).User Management:Manage user accounts across various systems, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, and student information systems (SIS).Please set up and manage email accounts and access permissions according to school policies.Security:Implement and continuously monitor cybersecurity protocols to protect school data and systems.Ensure strict compliance with educational privacy regulations, including FERPA, COPPA, and CIPA.Install, configure, and maintain antivirus software and firewalls across all relevant systems.System Administration:Provide technical support for learning management systems (e.g., Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology).Support the functionality and integrity of online testing platforms (e.g., NWEA, iReady, NYS CBT).Professional Development:Conduct training sessions and provide ongoing support to teachers and staff on the effective use of technology tools.Collaborate with educators to integrate technology into classrooms to enhance teaching and learning experiences.Backup & Recovery:Could you make sure regular and secure backups of all critical school data?Develop and maintain disaster recovery plans to minimize downtime and data loss.Key Skills & Qualifications:Proven ability to troubleshoot and use analytical thinking to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical staff clearly and concisely.Patience and a collaborative approach to working with staff, students, and external vendors.Familiarity with education-focused technology platforms and their application in a school environment.Excellent time and task management abilities, with the capacity to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.Technical Proficiencies (Required/Highly Desired):Productivity Suites: Microsoft 365, Google WorkspaceStudent Information Systems: Experience with platforms like PowerSchool, eSchoolData, and Infinite Campus.Learning Management Systems: Google Classroom, Canvas, Schoology.Device Management Tools: Google Admin Console, JAMF (for Apple devices), GoGuardian.Network Tools: Experience with Cisco/Meraki, Ubiquiti, or similar network infrastructure.Remote Support Tools: TeamViewer, GoToAssist, or equivalent.Education & Experience:Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.Minimum of [X years, e.g., 2-3 years] of experience in an IT support role, preferably within an educational setting.To Apply: Interested candidates should submit a resume and cover letter detailing their qualifications and experience.
