Position Summary:The Riverhead Charter School seeks a highly qualified and passionate English as a New Language (ENL) Teacher to join our team. The ENL Teacher will provide academic language instruction and support to English Language Learners (ELLs) from kindergarten through 12th grade. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of second language acquisition theory, a commitment to creating an inclusive and supportive learning environment, and the ability to collaborate effectively with general education teachers and school staff.Key Responsibilities:Instruction and Curriculum:Develop and implement culturally responsive and differentiated ENL lessons and curricula that align with New York State and district standards.Provide explicit and systematic instruction in the four language domains: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.Utilize various instructional strategies and technologies to meet the diverse needs of ELLs at different proficiency levels.Collaborate with classroom teachers to co-plan and co-teach integrated ENL lessons (push-in model) and provide direct ENL instruction (pull-out model) as needed.Assessment and Data Analysis:Administered and interpreted various language proficiency assessments, including the NYSESLAT, to monitor student progress and inform instructional decisions.Collect and analyze student data to track academic growth and adjust teaching strategies.I'd like for you to maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and communication with families.Collaboration and Advocacy:Serve as a resource and advocate for ELL students and their families.Communicate regularly and effectively with parents/guardians, providing updates on student progress and offering resources to support language development at home.Collaborate with various stakeholders, including general education teachers, administrators, school psychologists, and guidance counselors, to ensure a comprehensive support system for ELLs.Professionalism:Actively participate in professional development opportunities and stay current with best practices in multilingual education.Contribute to a positive and collaborative school culture.Adhere to all school policies and procedures.Qualifications:Required:New York State Teaching Certification in English as a New Language (ENL), or TESOL.Bachelor's degree in Education, TESOL, or a related field.Demonstrated experience working with English Language Learners.Knowledge of the New York State ENL requirements and the Common Core Learning Standards.Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.A commitment to equity and a deep belief in the potential of every student.Preferred:Master's degree in TESOL or a related field.Bilingualism is a plus.Experience with integrated co-teaching models.Proficiency in using technology to enhance instruction and communication.The Riverhead Charter School is an equal opportunity employer and values a diverse workforce.
