Director of Human ResourcesRiverhead Charter School is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Director of Human Resources to lead our HR department. This pivotal role requires a visionary leader with a strong commitment to our mission who can build and scale an HR team to support our growing organization. The ideal candidate will be a proactive self-starter with a "can-do" attitude, demonstrating exceptional strategic thinking and meticulous attention to detail.Key ResponsibilitiesThe Director of Human Resources will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:Strategic HR Leadership & DevelopmentVision and Team Building: Develop and execute a comprehensive vision for building and enhancing the capacity of the HR team, ensuring it aligns with the school's strategic goals.Organizational Transition: Lead the organization's transition from a Professional Employer Organization (PEO) to an open market, including establishing internal HR systems and processes.Long-Term Planning: Think years down the road, anticipating future HR needs and developing strategies to support the school's long-term growth and success.Compensation & Benefits: Design, implement, and manage comprehensive compensation packages that extend beyond base salary, including benefits and other incentives. Conduct thorough compensation analyses to ensure competitive and equitable pay structures.HR Infrastructure: Understand the complexities of HR and actively work to establish and refine the necessary infrastructure to support a multi-faceted HR function.HR Operations & CompliancePolicy Enforcement: Ensure consistent and fair enforcement of the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) and the staff handbook.Workplace Investigations: Conduct and manage thorough investigations, ensuring fair and impartial outcomes.Payroll Processing: Oversee and/or directly manage payroll processing, ensuring accuracy and compliance.Problem Solving & Protection: Act as a proactive problem solver, taking all necessary steps to protect the company and its assets.Culture & Employee RelationsAccountability & Courageous Conversations: Foster an environment of accountability, and be willing to initiate and lead courageous conversations with staff and leadership when necessary.Open & Honest Environment: Create and maintain an HR environment that promotes open and honest communication, fostering trust and transparency.Employee Relations Expertise: Understand that HR is multi-faceted and is willing to perform all necessary tasks to ensure effective employee relations.QualificationsA mission-aligned individual with an above-and-beyond effect in all endeavors.A self-starter who requires minimal direction and takes initiative.Demonstrated experience successfully transitioning an organization from a PEO to the open market.Possesses a "can-do" attitude and is consistently super positive, leading by example from the front.Exceptional ability to think years down the road and see the big picture.Strong understanding of and experience enforcing rules within a CBA and staff handbook.Proven ability to foster an environment of accountability and lead courageous conversations.A stickler for detail with impeccable organizational skills.Extensive experience in conducting workplace investigations.A proactive problem solver dedicated to protecting company assets.Proven ability to create an open and honest work environment.Familiarity with and experience in presenting to a Board of Trustees.Demonstrated experience in developing comprehensive compensation packages beyond just salary.Proficient in compensation analysis.In-depth understanding of HR principles and what it takes to build and scale an HR team.Experience with processing payroll.We encourage you to apply if you are a dynamic HR professional passionate about building strong teams and committed to educational excellence.
