We are committed to preparing students for a future that increasingly relies on STEM skills.Job Summary:Riverhead Charter School is seeking an enthusiastic and innovative Elementary School Robotics Teacher to inspire our young learners in the exciting world of robotics and computational thinking. This teacher will be responsible for developing and delivering engaging, hands-on robotics curriculum for students in grades K-5, fostering curiosity, problem-solving skills, and an early interest in STEM fields.Responsibilities:Design, implement, and assess a developmentally appropriate and engaging robotics curriculum for elementary school students (Grades K-5).Introduce fundamental concepts of robotics, coding (visual block-based coding preferred for younger grades), engineering, and design thinking.Utilize various age-appropriate robotics platforms and tools (e.g., LEGO WeDo, LEGO Mindstorms, Bee-Bots, Ozobots, Sphero, Scratch, or similar) to facilitate hands-on learning experiences.Create a positive, collaborative, and discovery-oriented classroom environment where students feel comfortable experimenting, making mistakes, and learning from them.Develop and manage robotics stations, challenges, and projects that promote teamwork, critical thinking, and creative problem-solving.Integrate robotics concepts with other subject areas (e.g., math, science, ELA) to provide interdisciplinary learning opportunities.Maintain and organize robotics equipment, ensuring all materials are accessible and in good working order.Assess student understanding and progress through observation, project completion, and informal assessments, providing constructive feedback.Communicate effectively with parents/guardians about student engagement and progress in robotics.Collaborate with elementary classroom teachers to align robotics instruction with broader school goals and initiatives.Stay current with emerging trends and technologies in educational robotics and STEM education.Potentially establish and coach an elementary robotics club or competition team (e.g., First LEGO League Explore/Discover).Uphold the school's mission and values in all interactions with students, families, and colleagues.Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Education, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related STEM field (required).New York State teaching certification (preferred, but candidates with strong robotics/STEM background and a commitment to obtaining certification will be considered).Demonstrated experience with elementary-level robotics platforms and coding languages (e.g., LEGO Education products, Scratch, Bee-Bots).Passion for teaching young children and fostering their interest in STEM.Strong understanding of child development and effective elementary classroom management strategies.Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.Creativity, patience, and a sense of humor.Benefits:Competitive salary and benefits package.Supportive and innovative school environment.Opportunities for professional development and access to cutting-edge educational technology.The chance to build and shape an exciting new program for young learners.To Apply:Please apply on OLAS and send a cover letter, resume, and copies of any relevant certifications or credentials to jobs@rcsli.org.
