We are committed to fostering a supportive and collaborative environment that empowers students to achieve their full potential.Job Summary:The Riverhead Charter School Middle School is seeking a dedicated and passionate Leave Replacement ELA Teacher to join our team and teach 8th-grade English Language Arts. This position is a temporary, leave replacement role. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective instruction aligned with the New York State Learning Standards, fostering a positive classroom environment, and supporting student growth in reading, writing, speaking, and listening.Responsibilities:Instructional Delivery:Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated, and standards-aligned ELA lessons for 8th-grade students.Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and resources to meet the diverse needs of all learners.Create and maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes active learning and student participation.Implement effective classroom management techniques to ensure a productive learning environment.Assess student progress through formative and summative assessments, providing timely feedback and support.Curriculum and Assessment:Implement the established ELA curriculum and adapt instruction as needed.Develop and administer assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.Analyze student data to identify areas of strength and areas for growth.Collaborate with colleagues to ensure alignment of curriculum and instruction.Communication and Collaboration:Communicate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school-wide events.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance, grades, and progress.Provide feedback to parents and guardians regarding student progress.Professionalism:Adhere to all school policies and procedures.Maintain professional ethical standards.Continue professional growth through attending professional development opportunities.Qualifications:New York State Certification in Grades 7-12 English Language Arts OR B-12 Literacy.Bachelor's degree in English, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).Experience teaching middle school ELA preferred.Strong knowledge of the New York State Learning Standards.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Ability to differentiate instruction to meet the needs of diverse 1 learners.
