Job Title: Social Studies Teacher Certification Required: Social Studies (Grades 7-12) Location: Riverhead Charter School Start Date: September 1, 2025Job Description: The Riverhead Charter School is seeking a passionate and knowledgeable Social Studies Teacher to educate and engage students in grades 7-12. The successful candidate will foster a deep understanding of history, government, geography, economics, and current events, encouraging critical thinking and active citizenship.Responsibilities:Develop and deliver rigorous and engaging lesson plans aligned with NYS Next Generation Learning Standards for Social Studies.Teach a range of Social Studies courses, which may include Global History, U.S. History, Government, and Economics.Utilize diverse instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners.Encourage critical thinking, analysis of primary and secondary sources, and evidence-based argumentation.Facilitate classroom discussions that promote respectful dialogue and diverse perspectives.Assess student learning through various methods, providing timely and constructive feedback.Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and integrate interdisciplinary learning.Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and communication with families.Foster a positive, inclusive, and academically challenging classroom environment.Participate in school-wide initiatives and professional development.Adhere to all school policies and procedures.Qualifications:Valid New York State Certification in Social Studies (Grades 7-12).Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.Prior experience teaching Social Studies at the secondary level preferred.Strong content knowledge in various areas of Social Studies.Ability to differentiate instruction for diverse learners.Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.Commitment to fostering active and engaged learners.
