UCP CHILDREN'S CENTER IS SEEKING A F/T PHYSICAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT FOR OUR CHILDREN'S CENTER LOCATED IN COMMACK. THIS IS A ONE SITE, 12-MONTH POSITION WHICH INCLUDES A 6 WEEK SUMMER PROGRAM WITH ALL SCHOOL HOLIDAYS PAID. *(salary listed does not include additional pay for summer program)General Purpose of the JobResponsible for the treatment of students who have been referred by CSE/CPSE and physician script has been obtained and assigned by the Clinical Supervisor. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesUnder the supervision of a Physical Therapist, assists with the treatment of students through the use of physical agents, appropriate exercise, stretching, or other therapeutic techniques.Communicates therapeutic procedures to parents, physician (with consent), teachers, and other staff members.Attends meetings and conferences with other staff members in order to convey and receive information concerning student care.Participates in in-services.Records student status, therapeutic interventions recommended, and progress noted through proper note writing.To provide a safe, supervised nurturing environment to the students we serve.Consults with equipment technicians and other dealers.Supervises Physical Therapy Assistant students from affiliate colleges.Completes all required documentation and paperwork in a thorough and timely manner.All other duties pertaining to this position as assigned by the Director of Educational Services, or designee.The Physical Therapist Assistant may visit the home of a student at any time, should the need arise. After receiving the permission, from the Director of Educational Services/Principal or Clinical Supervisor, the therapist should make his/her own arrangements with the family.Responsible to ensure that updated and accurate prescriptions are maintained for each student on their current caseload. Education and/or Experience Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school accredited by the A.P.T.A. and one to six months related experience preferred.
