ANTICIPATED TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, SOCIAL STUDIES & MATH 7-12 Full Time, 10-month position Certified Position Exceptional Education Department-Springboard Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Location: BOCES Smith School DUTIES:Responsible for providing engaging and inquiry-based high school mathematics OR social studies instruction anchored by the NYS Next Generation Standards to students in a 12:1:1 special education programTeacher will have freedom to prioritize content, design curricula and create an instructional space that meets the learning needs of students.Responsible for teaching all High School Mathematics OR Social Studies courses.Serves as a special education teacher and case manager for 12 students. Responsible for progress monitoring on IEPs for all students in the program in grades 7-12; could be up to 48. Develops supportive relationships with and among students, advances positive school culture and promotes attainment of academic goals.Must be a flexible, out of the box thinker who is able to work as a member of a team with an eye toward transition planning for families and students during and after high school.Perform other duties as required. * This position requires the ability and desire to work with students with disabilities in a 12:1:1 BOCES setting. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess New York State Certification in Special Education K-12 OR Students with Disabilities 7-12 AND Secondary Mathematics 7-12 OR SOCE inMathematics OR Students with Disabilities 7-12 AND Secondary Social Studies 7-12 OR SOCE in Social Studies. Previous successful teaching experience is desirable. Must be ateam player, have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.START DATE: September 1, 2022SALARY: $50,000.00 plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Masters Degree and Grad Credits.
