TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION 7-12 AND Social Studies 7-12 Certified PositionFull Time, 10-month position Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Exceptional Education Department-Springboard Location: BOCES Smith School DUTIES: Responsible for providing engaging and inquiry-based high school social studies instruction anchored by the NYS Next Generation Standards to students in a 12:1:1 special education program Teacher will have freedom to prioritize content, design curricula and create an instructional space that meets the learning needs of students. Responsible for teaching all social studies grades 9-12 and possibly up to 2 classes outside of the social studies content area. Serves as a special education teacher and case manager for up to 12 students. Responsible for progress monitoring on IEPs for additional students in the program, with IEP goals specific to domain. Develops supportive relationships with and among students, advances positive school culture and promotes attainment of academic goals. Must be a flexible, out of the box thinker who is able to work as a member of a team with an eye toward transition planning for families and students during and after high school. Perform other duties as required. * This position requires the ability and desire to work with students with disabilities in a 12:1:1 BOCES setting.QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess New York State Certification in Special Education K-12 OR Students with Disabilities 7-12 AND Secondary Social Studies 7-12 OR SOCE in Social Studies 7-12. Previous successful teaching experience is desirable. Must be a team player, have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.*Applicants certified in at least one required area but not another, AND are interested in pursuing additional certification, should consider applying.START DATE: 9/3/2024SALARY: $54,000.00 (2024-2025 base salary), plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Masters Degree and Grad Credits.
