TITLE: Long Term Substitute Certified Position SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER Affiliation: None TURNING POINT (Elementary School) Exceptional Education Department January 3, 2024 – June 30, 2025 or return of incumbent Full Time, temporary Location: TST BOCES Smith School DUTIES: Responsible for providing specially designed instruction with an eye toward the implementation of the NYS Next Generation Standards to students in the Turning Point program in Exceptional Education. Teacher will be provided curricular guidelines and materials, focused on prioritized standards while creating an instructional space that meets the learning needs of our students. Responsible for case management duties of homeroom and Individualized Education Plans complete with progress monitoring. Must be an organized, effective time manger, with emotional intelligence skills, who is dedicated to collaboration with colleagues in the program and with our partner agency to provide a therapeutic milieu in the classroom. Candidate must maintain student records consistent with State and Federal regulations. Perform other duties as required.*** This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional andbehavioral disabilities in an 8:1:1 setting***QUALIFICATIONS: NYS Teacher Certification is preferred, but not necessary. Uncertified Teachers may substitute up to 40 days in a school year. A New York State Certified Students with Disabilities Teaching Certificate, grades 1-6, B-2 or K-12 is preferred and experience with elementary students is a bonus. Must be a team player, have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Strong instructional and managerial computer skills are desired.START DATE: January 15, 2024 (position is expected to last until June 30, 2024)SALARY: Substitute teacher rate = $125.00 per day. ($115 uncertified) Substitute Teacher that works for a period of up to 20 consecutive workdays in the same class/assignment, payment will be paid at a daily rate. A Long-Term Substitute Teacher works more than 20 consecutive workdays in the same class/assignment, payment will be at a rate of 1/200 of an annual salary. The annual salary will be calculated as if the substitute were being hired for a regular appointment.
