TITLE: SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER (7-8 Middle SchoolFull Time, 10-month position Certified Position Exceptional Education Department Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Location: BOCES Smith School DUTIES:Responsible for all aspects of teaching including but not limited to the development and implementation of Next GenerationLearning Standards/Curriculum, instruction, assessment, student supervision, home/school communication, etc. Serve ascollegial team member in a dynamic K-12 educational setting. Depending on placement, provide instruction to middleschool/high school students with disabilities and behavior concerns. Maintain student records consistent with State andFederal regulations. Previous experience with students with emotional / behavioral disabilities preferred. Perform otherduties as required. * This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional andbehavioral disabilities in an 8:1:1 BOCES setting. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be New York State Certified Students with Disabilities 7–12 Generalist OR hold Permanent NYS Special Education Cert. K-12 AND be deemed HQ using the HOUSSE rubric in any or some combination of ELA, Math, Social Studies, General Science/Biology OR Statement of Continued Eligibility (or limited extension) in all or somecombination of ELA, Math, Social Studies, General Science/Biology OR New York State Certified Students withDisabilities 7–12 with dual certification 7-12 in ONE subject area. START DATE: 9/3/24 SALARY: $54,000.00 (2024-2025 base salary), plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Masters Degree and Grad Credits. Excellent benefits are available.
