TITLE: Construction Trades Teacher Certified Position Full-time, 10-Month Position Affiliation: Teacher’s Association Career and Technical Education Department Location: C & T Center, Powell BuildingTo develop, maintain and teach a construction trades program to 11th and 12th grade high school students. The first year will be dedicated to the curriculum development, building an advisory with business partners, securing the equipment needed to run the program, securing the space in collaboration with administration and the CTE team. The program would be open to students in year two of the program. This position is for the teacher of the program that includes the initial program development for sustainability meeting state requirements.Job Duties:Develop a construction trades curriculum and assessments that is in alignment with the current job market and cutting edge industry practicesMarket the programBuild business and industry relationships and an engaged advisory for the programDevelop the space for the program in partnership with administrationTeach the program to incoming students going forwardSecure and maintain state approval for the program with the help of the CTE teamOther duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teacher Certification in any one of the following Architecture & Construction career clusters including Carpentry, Computer-Aided Drafting, Drafting, Electrical, Heating, Ventilation, Air Condition and Refrigeration, Masonry, Plumbing or Residential/Commercial Maintenance and Remodeling desirable with up-to-date knowledge and skills in the construction industry. Previous teaching experience (including students with disabilities) is desirable. If none of these certification areas are held, must be able to qualify for CTE Certification in one of these areas with acceptable vocational experience. Must be a team player, have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Competent computer skills for instruction and management are necessary.START DATE: September 1, 2022, or as soon as possible.SALARY: $50,000.00 (2022-2023 base salary), plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Masters Degree and Grad Credits.
