TITLE: TEACHING ASSISTANT Full-time, 10-month position CTE, Heavy Equipment Certified PositionAffiliation: Teachers’ Association Location: TST BOCES, Ithaca, NY DUTIES: Assist with instructing juniors and seniors with rigorous, engaging classroom instruction, and hands-on skills that will prepare students to be college and career ready in the heavy equipment industry Collaborate with the heavy equipment instructors on maintaining a high-quality program Assist with providing supervision and classroom management to all students Assist in monitoring students’ academic progress including, but not limited to, progress/marking period grades, attendance, hands-on performance skills Assist with implementing 504 Plans and IEPs (Individualized Education Plans) for students with diverse learning needs Keep current with changes and developments in the heavy equipment industry Communicate with business and community partners Record keeping Other duties as assigned Qualities Needed: Be able to connect with teachers and students in many different ways. Hold up a high level of commitment for each other and the program Assist in communicating regularly with parents, teachers, and all others involved with the education of all students Technology skills Good communication Collaborative QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate Level 1, 2, 3 or Pre-Professional. The setting is working with high school aged students in both the classroom and lab setting. Familiarity with classroom routine, ability to communicate effectively and dependability are critical characteristics. Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position; must be able to lift 40 pounds.
