Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Lead a classroom of preschoolers with special needs in an 8:1:2 or 12:1:2 self-contained classroom Write and execute lesson plans that address IEP goals, assess student skills and write progress reports that clearly communicate those skills Communicate with parents and involve them in their child’s activities and progress Provide direction to teacher assistants, 1:1’s or substitutes in the classroom Have strong interpersonal problem solving, and communication skills Qualifications: Initial/Professional NYS Students with Disabilities (Birth - 2nd Grade) Certification or NYS Permanent Special Education Certification A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree; Master’s Degree Preferred At least 2 years teaching experience, including student teaching, with preschool age children with special needs The daily work hours are from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM.
