TITLE: Secondary English Language Arts Teacher Certified Position Full Time, 10-month position Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Regional Alternative School Location: TST BOCES Campus DUTIES Responsible for providing engaging and inquiry-based ELA instruction for grades 9-12 that is anchored in the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards for English Language Arts to students at the Regional Alternative School on the TST BOCES campus. Experience teaching secondary ELA at the high school level preferred but not required. Teacher will have the freedom to prioritize content, design curricula and create an instructional space that meets the learning needs of our students. Responsible for developing and delivering ELA curricula that is connected and articulated up through the grades. Writing instruction for ELA is aligned with Social Studies expectations to create a cohesive learning experience across curricula. Serves at home base advisor. Develops supportive relationships with and among students, advances positive school culture and promotes attainment of academic goals. Communicates frequently with families. Must be a flexible, creative thinker who is able to work with a small, supportive team of educators dedicated to alternative education, trauma informed care and restorative practices. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Must possess New York State Certification in Secondary ELA, grades 7-12. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills. Strong instructional and managerial computer skills are desired. START DATE: May 1, 2024 SALARY: $52,000 (2023-2024 base salary) plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Masters Degree and Grad Credits. Excellent benefits are available.
