We pride ourselves on our commitment to all students and our innovative working environment.DUTIES:Program Development and Instruction:Design, develop, and implement an approved Auto Technology curriculum for high school-age students, aligned with New York State CTE Learning Standards and Industry Standards.Develop and deliver daily lesson plans that engage students in hands-on, project-based, and skills-based learning.Integrate math and science concepts into instruction and collaborate with certified content area teachers to support students in meeting New York State Graduation Requirements.Teach industry-relevant content and emerging technologies within the field of automotive repair and maintenance, including diagnostics, safety, tools, and equipment usage.Student Assessment and Progress MonitoringRegularly assess and evaluate student performance through a variety of formative and summative assessments.Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, competencies, and certifications.Provide ongoing feedback to students and parents/guardians regarding academic progress, work readiness skills, and career development.Work-Based Learning and Industry EngagementCollaborate with the Work-Based Learning (WBL) team to coordinate and support student participation in job shadows, internships, field trips, and other industry-related experiences.Assist in the supervision and evaluation of student work experiences, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals and industry expectations.Develop and maintain professional relationships with local automotive businesses, dealerships, and service providers to enhance program relevancy and student opportunities.Program Operations and SafetyMaintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and school safety protocols.Oversee the use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and training vehicles in the auto lab/shop.Develop and enforce safety procedures and ensure that students are trained in safe work practices.Professional ResponsibilitiesAttend and participate in professional development sessions, staff meetings, curriculum planning meetings, and industry training to stay current in instructional strategies and automotive technologies.Communicate effectively and professionally with students, families, colleagues, and industry partners.Support students in preparing for industry-recognized certifications and credentials (e.g., ASE, SP2).Assist in student recruitment efforts and participate in program-related events such as open houses, advisory committee meetings, and career fairs.Additional RequirementsWillingness to acquire a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) is preferred to assist with transportation for field trips or work-based learning experiences.Serve as a mentor and role model, fostering a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, professionalism, and teamwork.Support students’ transition to post-secondary education or employment by teaching employability skills and providing career guidance.Other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS: Must have New York State Trans A or Initial Teacher Certification in an area of Career and Tech that is relevant to the position. Certification area of Vehicle Maintenance & Repair Occupations OR must have combination of Industry experience AND education to qualify for pathway to teacher certification. Must meet all NYS pathway certification requirements prior to appointment. Must be a team player and be willing to participate in co-planning, co-teaching situations in an integrated academic environment. Must possess excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, and data management skills along with strong teaching and computer skills. START DATE: August 27, 2025SALARY: $56,500 (2025-2026 full-time base salary), plus additional salary credit for previous teaching or industry experience, Master’s Degree and/or graduate course work.
