TITLE: Teaching Assistants (Ex. Ed) Certified PositionAffiliation: Teachers Association Location: TST BOCES Campus, Smith SchoolSeveral, Full Time, 10-month positions Exceptional Education Department Up to 12 positionsDUTIES: Working under the general supervision of a certified teacher, teaching assistant expectations are:1.work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects;2.provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development ofappropriate learning experiences;3.assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assisting in the development ofinstructional materials as requested by the teacher;4.provide instruction using consultation and teacher developed materials on a limited basis5.utilize their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar projects;6.assist in related instructional work and duties as required.*This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional andbehavioral disabilities in special class settings including 8:1:1, 12:1:1, 8:1:3 and/or 12:1+3QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant certificate - Level 1, 2, 3, or Pre-ProfessionalFor further information regarding Teaching Assistant Certification Levels visit http://www.highered.nysed.gov/tcert/certificate/ta.html.START DATE: 9/5/23 and ongoing until positions are filledSALARY: $28,080 (2023-2024 full-time base salary for Level 1, additional $1,000 base salary for eachLevel), plus additional salary credit for relevant experience and/or education.
