• Develop and implement lesson plans and classroom activities. • Evaluate instructional materials for appropriateness to meet the needs of each student.• Collect and analyze data to monitor learning and progress towards meeting individual student’s goals.• Use data collected to inform instruction. • Develop and update progress reports and annual paperwork within required IEP timelines.• Regularly consult with TLC staff and families to ensure a shared understanding of each student’s strengths, needs, goals, and progress.• Work collaboratively with therapists and administration to coordinate student service plans.• Communicate student progress to caregivers on a weekly basis.• Plan and participate in family engagement opportunities within the classroom and school wide.• Lead a teaching team, which may include, but is not limited to teacher assistants, 1:1 teacher aides, student teachers, and substitute teachers assigned to the classroom.• Conduct weekly team meetings with classroom staff to support team cohesion. • Maintain the confidentiality of students and their families.• Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment that meets the needs of your students.• Participate in crisis intervention, as needed, for students and their families.• Participate in professional development opportunities, as required by the New York State Education Department to maintain teacher certification. • Maintain and abide by TLC policies and procedures. • Perform other related duties as communicated by Education Administration to meet ongoing or future needs of TLC.Qualifications: • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Special Education,• NYS Students with Disabilities—Early Childhood (Birth – 2nd Grade) Certification or Students with Disabilities—All Ages (PreK-12) Certification, OR• Willingness to participate in a programmed study plan that leads to obtaining the certificates mentioned.Knowledge of early learning standards for preschool children between the ages of 3-5 years.Have strong leadership/supervisory skills to oversee teacher assistant/student teachers, and substitutes assigned to the classroom. Awareness of and ability to implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum.Ability to differentiate and adapt curriculum instruction and utilize a multi-sensory approach to learning.Ability to stand for long periods of time, able to sustain a high level of energy, bend to perform various tasks, stoop and sit on floor, and lift 50 pounds. Respond quickly and appropriately to changing positions/situations in order to maintain a safe learning environment.Ability and temperament to work effectively with children who have developmental delays, their caregivers, and a diverse staff with varying work styles.
