The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking a passionate and dedicated New York State (NYS) Certified Health Teacher to join our team in an itinerant role, serving students in the Union Springs and Port Byron school districts for the 2025-2026 school year. This is a full-time probationary position, split between the two districts, and requires flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a commitment to promoting student health and wellness. In addition to NYS Health Certification, The ideal candidate will have a Master’s Degree in Health, or have at least 19 graduate credits toward their Master’s.Responsibilities:Develop and implement engaging, standards-aligned health education curriculum for students in both districts.Teach a variety of health topics, including nutrition, mental health, substance abuse prevention, human development, and overall wellness.Adapt instructional methods to meet diverse student needs.Collaborate with school staff, including administrators, counselors, and physical education teachers, to promote a comprehensive health education program.Travel between districts as required to fulfill teaching responsibilities.Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate effectively with parents and guardians.Stay current with best practices in health education and integrate new strategies into lesson plans.Qualifications:Must hold, or be eligible for New York State (NYS) Health Teacher Certification.Must have a Master’s degree in Health, or at least 19 credit hours towards a Master’s in Health.Prior teaching experience is preferred but not required.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.Ability to work collaboratively across two school communities.Reliable transportation to travel between districts.Benefits of Working with us:Competitive Salary, starting at $54,308, commenurate with experienceFull benefits, including health insurancePaid sick, personal, and family illnessPossibility of Public Service Loan Forgiveness403BFlex SpendingEmployee Assistance ProgramNYS Retirement System PensionIn this position, you'll be a part of a great team that believes in our BOCES purpose of UNLEASHING POTENTIAL IN OUR COMMUNITY.
