The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES Special Education Department is hiring Sumer School Support Staff, to work in our extended school year (ESY) summer school program this year. The anticipated openings range from grades K-12. In this role, you’ll support special education teachers and students with disabilities during our summer programs.Rate of pay $20.97/hrWe have two locations: The Cayuga Onondaga BOCES Regional Education Center, located in Auburn NY, and Jordan-Elbridge Middle School in Jordan, NY houses our 6:1:2 Autism ESY program.ESY Support Staff can anticipate working from July 6, 2023- August 18, 2023. The hours are 8:00am-2:00pm (main campus program), or 7:30am-12:30pm (Jordan-Elbridge program), depending on the assignment.All staff must be able to perform the required physical management duties, which include the following:Assist in lifting students up to 150 lbs. to address self-care needsIn an emergency, provide physical intervention to students up to 150 lbs. who are in crisis, including restraint if necessaryPush/pull students in wheelchairs in school/community settings, which may include assisting them on/off bus lifts,Place students in various equipment (standers, mat tables, and wedges), requiring lifting/twisting to position students appropriately.While still in the planning process, we hope to gather a strong pool of applicants to begin interviews sometime in the coming weeks.
