Job Summary: The Cayuga-Onondaga BOCES is seeking a dedicated and NYS certified Physical Education Teacher to join our team for the 2026-2027 school year. The ideal candidate will be passionate about providing specialized physical education instruction to students with diverse abilities, ensuring they receive an engaging physical education experience that is designed to meet individual student needs. Key Responsibilities: Develop and implement individualized physical education programs tailored to the needs of students with disabilities. Conduct assessments to determine need for adapted physical education. Develop IEP goals to address needs through APE. Adapt curriculum and activities to accommodate students with varying abilities and mobility levels. Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and assistive technologies to support student participation and success. Assess student progress and maintain accurate records of student performance, including reporting at Committee of Special Education meetings. Collaborate with general education teachers, special education staff, therapists, and parents to develop and implement effective learning plans. Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations regarding adapted physical education services. Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment that fosters student confidence and achievement. Qualifications: New York State Certification in Physical Education (required). Experience working with children and adolescents with disabilities in a physical education setting. Strong knowledge of adapted physical education techniques, strategies, and equipment. Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
