Variety Child Learning Center (VCLC) is a not-for-profit agency providing quality educational and therapeutic services to young children with disabilities.Job Summary/Objective:The Physical Education Teacher works with children across all programs to provide physical activity to develop motor skills and physical development. Essential Functions:Reviews each student’s IEP prior to the first day of school and periodically to make sure that it is implemented correctly. Provide a physical and health education for each child that reflects the children’s IEP or IFSP goals.Implement curriculum that is compatible with New York State Pre-K Standards focusing on Physical Development and Health and the Common Core Learning Standards.Provide physical education classes for k-2 students for 120 minutes per week.Develop daily lesson plans in an approved format to be handed in as required by the Principal.Participates in weekly team meetings prepared to discuss each student’s progress and needs.Communicate effectively with interdisciplinary team including therapists, social worker, and team leader.Communicate effectively with parents.Required Education and Experience:Must have a master’s degree.Must have either a NYS Physical Education Certification with a minimum of 12 semester hours of teacher preparation in Adapted Physical Education.
