TITLE: School Counselor P-TECH Certified PositionFull-Time, 10-Month position Affiliation: Teacher’s AssociationP-TECH Academy/CTE Department Location: P-Tech Academy, TC3 Campus DUTIES: School Counselor must work with the PTECH leader and staff in developing a collaborative, inclusive and innovative school culture:Must be a flexible collaborator with P-TECH leader, staff, and all other stakeholders to foster a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative school culture.Serve as a liaison to students and families, ensuring commitment to the program and student success.Willingness to build relationships with all stakeholders in the P-TECH program.Demonstrated commitment to equity, inclusion, and an assets-based approach to supporting all students, especially students who have been historically marginalized.Support students in graduating with essential professional skills and advanced academic knowledge, leading to an associate's degree and successful entry into high-demand careers.Coordinate with P-TECH stakeholders to ensure student success in areas of industry to create business partnerships, internships, and apprenticeships.Acts as a liaison for partnerships between businesses, post-secondary institutions, and families.Develop a curriculum for SEL with the social worker, and do classroom lessons on various topics.Work with higher education professors to integrate high school curriculum with college coursework for an associate’s degree.Must have a working knowledge or be willing to learn CollegeNow.Develop and maintain collaborative, inclusive, and innovative school-business partnerships.Shared responsibilities in career exploration, job-shadowing, mentorship, and apprenticeship opportunities, as well as assisting in the development of the professional skills, and curriculum essential to workplace success.Perform additional related duties as assigned.Daily working knowledge of SchoolTool, Google Suite, master schedules, student scheduling, developing transcripts, lead person for 504’s, support IEP/504 meetings, working relationship with Special Education teacher, individual counseling, group counseling, meetings with academic advisors and students for the collegeWould prefer someone who has training or knowledge in one or more of the following areas: TIC, TCI, Restorative Practices, and/or BIMAS.Willingness to work with all of our home district counselors (middle and high school), and attend school counseling professional development.(There will be an expectation of working 20 days over the summer, with additional compensation.) QUALIFICATIONS:? New York State School Counselor Certification is required.? At least three (3) years of previous school counseling experience required, preferably with High School students.DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS:Innovative Counselor that will provide counseling services to 9 th – 2-year AAS and AS college degrees for students in the P-TECH Program. Is visionary in integrated, standards-based curriculum, implementing instruction through inquiry, project and performance based experiences and the development of a professional skill set for success in the workplace.Provide students and their families with support on the chosen pathway as well as their post-secondary education and the work field.Evidence of strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills, as well as stimulating innovation, creativity, and problem solving.Counselor works with the instructional leader in establishing an instructional vision and a focused plan for improving student achievement.Evaluation and maintenance of student records including: transcripts, work based learning opportunities, IEP’s/504’s, college credits and regents exam data.Oversee marketing and promoting of the P-TECH program, enrollment, master schedule, articulation agreements, college and career seminars, and business mentors.Develop & amp; maintain communication with teachers, TC3, component schools, business partners and families.Promote and recruit students for the P-TECH programs in component schools.Collaborate with business, industry, and post-secondary partners.Visionary, assets-based educator with the ability to help teachers integrate workplace mentorships into an interdisciplinary standards-based curriculum grounded in authentic project and performance-based experiences leading to the development of a professional skill set for success in the workplace START DATE: September 5, 2024 or as soon as possible SALARY RANGE: $54,000 (2024-25 Base Salary), plus additional salary credit for graduate credits, Master’s Degree and prior related experience.
