TITLE: Work Based Learning Coordinator Certified PositionFull-time, 11-month position Non-AffiliatedCareer & Tech Location: TST BOCES Description: In Career and Technical Education at TST BOCES, we look for employees who are enthusiastic about sharing their expertise with students. Under direction of the Director of Career and Technical Education, the primary responsibility of this position is to coordinate/supervise the staff and the work carried out through the Regional Career Center guided by the mission that every student (under the domain of the TST BOCES CTE department and P-Tech Academy) receives an authentic learning experience that allow students to explore their career goals, abilities, and interests while applying their academic and technical knowledge and skills in a real-world context. The WBL Coordinator will ensure that all safety and regulatory guidelines are followed. DUTIES:Regional Career CenterCoordinate the work of the Regional Career Center including:career planning and career counseling for all CTE and P-Tech Studentsoffer resources for career development as well as interview//meeting/teaching spaceestablishing WBL opportunities aimed at supporting the district's goals to increase student achievement, graduation rates, and CTE and P-Tech Endorsement.LeadershipCoordinate/Supervise the work of the Job Developer and Job CoachesFacilitate strong business, community, and education partnerships that provide opportunities for students and support CTE and P-Tech programsCollaborate with teachers in the career planning, and evaluating students in their work-based learning experienceServe, together with teachers as liaison between the parents, students, school, and business partners to achieve an effective work-based learning experience that includes job shadows, individualized internships, and other experiences as included in the students' career plan.Represent CTE and P-Tech as needed for various community groupsCollaborate with career counselors to coordinate college, military, work/career related events to recruit and celebrate studentsAssessmentWork with teachers to develop a process of supervision and evaluation of students' employment skills and technical performance in work-based learning experiencesEnsure that completed job shadowing and internship evaluations are shared with teachers and studentsCurriculum and InstructionCoordinate the delivery of workshops aimed at Employability Skill (aka soft/professional skill) support and development.Provide professional development for both mentors and teachers in all things work-based learning System DevelopmentDevelop and maintain all necessary forms on file, including student records according to NYSED and NYSDOE regulations.Work with the Public Relations Department to market work-based learning opportunitiesStay current with changing regulations and trends in the field by attending workshops and meetings including CREAFacilitate the maintenance of a visible calendar for students and families to access in multiple formats including hard copy and on CTE360.Ensure the TST BOCES Career & Technical Education Center is registered as a Co-Op with the State Education DepartmentAssist in the establishment and maintenance an Advisory Committee for each CTE programUnderstand the NYS Next Generation Learning Standards for CDOS and how to apply them in a CTE environmentData Management & ReportingProvide an annual report to the administration of WBL participation, activities, and accomplishments with recommendations for systematic improvementWork with the district office to ensure appropriate insurance(s) are in place and that business partners have copies on fileCollect, organize, and report CDOS / WBL hours for CTE StudentsCarry out all other duties as assigned by the Director of Career and Technical Education. QUALIFICATIONS: Required:NYS Teacher CertificationMust obtain the Coordinator of Work-Based Learning Programs Extension within 6 months of hireProven experience building mutually beneficial business and industry partnershipsWorking knowledge of state and federal child labor laws and worker permit regulationsAnalytical skills to interpret student assessment results, behavior, and work capabilitiesOrganizational skills to independently manage a caseloadCommunication skills needed to effectively relate to students, parents, teachers, administrators, and business partnersTechnological skills, ability to use technology including Google, Microsoft Office products, and CTE360 softwareProblem solving and decision-making skills to ensure system integrity and appropriate student placementDemonstrated ability to work successfully with teachers, building administrators and district level administrators in developing and implementing a scientific-based approach to department/school wide reformKnowledge of the policies, organization and operation of the school system, NYSED regulations and work-based learning requirementsStrong management, interpersonal, and communication skills along with the ability to work effectively with a wide range of stakeholders in a diverse communityAbility to establish priorities and multitask.Preferred: CDL with passenger endorsementCertified Career and Technical Education Teacher with the Work Experience Coordinator extensionExperience teaching career and technical education at the secondary level. START DATE: July 1, 2024 SALARY RANGE: $62,475-$73,500 (11-month full-time salary). Excellent benefit package available.
