Professionals who can take their industry knowledge and assist in preparing students for real world experience under the general supervision of a certified teacher.DUTIES:1. Work with individual students or groups of students on special instructional projects within the areas of canine management, veterinary medicine, lab animal and grooming.2. Assist with student progress along with keeping appropriate records including animal records utilizing Veterinary Software such as Avimark.3. Support students with proper canine handling, training, behavioral, and communication skills.4. Help students earn micro credentials within the field of canine training and management, grooming, veterinary science and lab animal science under the direction of certified teacher.5. Help with monitoring canine behavior ensuring safety of both students and staff.6. Support a student kennel enterprise by following Standard Operating Standards for managing a daily kennel in which one will support students caring for and maintaining dogs for instructional purposes.7. Work with students practicing AKC CGC (Canine Good Citizen), and obedience regulations.8. Provide job coaching to students during the work-based opportunities such as job shadow, industry immersion and internships.9. Develop and maintain excellent working relationship(s) with area canine professionals, such as shelters, and trainers, and with T-S-T students and staff.10. Support students in developing training plans and training logs to record data from training sessions and animal-based interactions.QUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate Level 1, 2, 3 or Pre-Professional required. The setting is working with high school aged students in both the classroom and lab setting.Bachelor of Technology degree in Canine Training and Management, to ensure up-to-date knowledge and skills in a variety of training is preferred. Two or more years of canine training experience is admirable but not required. Previous experience in a teaching setting is also desirable. Must be a team player and excellent interpersonal skills, organizational skills, and communication skills. Computer skills are desirable.
