TITLE: BOCES EXCEPTIONAL EDUCATION SUMMER SCHOOL POSITIONS 6 weeks (July 9 - August 19, 2026) Location: TST BOCES Campus, Smith School **ALL NEW STAFF will be required to attend an orientation meeting June 29th 4:00-5:00pm*** Certified (Teacher/TVI/Teacher of Deaf & Hard of Hearing/Speech/Teaching Assistant) POSITIONS NEEDED FOR 6-WEEK SESSION (Some working 30 days – some less, as needed): • Special Education Teachers: Provide Special Education instruction to students in a self-contained setting for students with special needs. Responsible for all aspects of teaching including but not limited to the implementation of curriculum, instruction, assessment, student supervision, home-school communication, etc. Serve as collegial team member in a dynamic K-12 educational setting. Maintain student records consistent with State and Federal regulations. Perform other duties as required. • Teacher of the Visually Impaired: Summer position working with students with multiple disabilities; provide instruction to visually impaired pupils; diagnose individual learning problems; maintain pupils’ records consistent with State and Federal regulations • Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing: Summer position working with students with multiple disabilities; provide instruction to deaf or hard of hearing pupils. Maintain pupils; diagnose individual learning problems; maintain pupils' records consistent with State and Federal regulations • Speech Therapists: Develop and deliver all Speech and Language Therapy services as per students’ IEP’s and program requirements. Provide all progress monitoring and reporting. Provide all required documentation including paperwork for Medicaid billing. Develop and implement goals/objectives for IEPs of K-12 students with disabilities. Serve as key member of dynamic educational team serving students in BOCES programs or services. Perform other duties as required. • Teaching Assistants: Work under the general supervision of a certified teacher, teaching assistant expectations are: work with individual students or groups on special instructional projects; provide the teacher with information about students that will assist the teacher in the development of appropriate learning experiences; assist students in the use of available instructional resources, and assisting in the development of instructional materials as requested by the teacher; provide instruction using consultation and teacher developed materials on a limited basis, utilize their own special skills and abilities by assisting in instructional programs in such areas as: foreign languages, arts, crafts, music and similar projects. QUALIFICATIONS: Special Education Teachers – Appropriate NYS Students with Disabilities Teaching Certification, K-12. Teacher of the Visually Impaired – New York State Certification as Teacher of the Blind/Partially Sighted. Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing - New York State Certified Teacher of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired. Speech Therapists – NYS License and/or certification as Registered S.L.P. (preferred) or Speech Therapist. Teaching Assistant – New York State Teaching Assistant certificate SUMMER WORK DATES: July 9, 2026 to August 19, 2026 (6-weeks) (30 day summer program) SALARY/RATES: Special Education Teachers – TVI – Speech Therapist - $58,000 (2026-2027 base salary), plus additional for experience / Grad. Credits / Master’s Degree – pro- rated at 1/200?? for time worked) Teaching Assistants - $31,320 (2026-2027 base salary), plus additional for experience / Grad. Credits / Associates, Bachelors, or Master’s Degree – pro-rated at 1/200?? for time worked.) Daily rate is converted to an hourly rate based on 7.25 hours per day (inclusive of lunch) and paid each pay period from a submitted time sheet.
