TITLE: TEACHING ASSISTANT Full-time, 10-month position CTE, Food Service/Coffee Shop Certified Position Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Location: TST BOCES, Ithaca, NYDuties: This teacher assistant position is in a food service entry level program for students who are learning barista skills (running the coffee shop), making pizzas, baked goods or other catering projects as requested. We are a program that is looking to model and support the professional skills as well as the technical skills to enter the workforce.The teacher assistant’s responsibilities include but are not limited to:Assist with providing high school students engaging classroom instruction, and hands-on skills that would prepare students for a post-secondary education or a career in the food service or barista industryMaintain classroom supervision of students and discipline in the classroomCollaborate with other professionals on the direction of the programAssist in monitoring students’ academic progress including, but not limited to progress/marking period grades, attendance, hands-on performance skillsAssist with implementing 504 plans and IEPs for students with diverse learning needsKeep current with changes and developments in the culinary arts field/ baristaCommunicate as needed with parents, teachers, home school counselors and all others involved with the education of all studentsCarry out all other duties as assignedQUALIFICATIONS: New York State Teaching Assistant Certificate Level 1, 2, 3 or Pre-Professional.
