TITLE: SECONDARY SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER, Certified Position (Self-Contained – Turning Point High School) Affiliation: Teachers’ Association Full Time, 10-month position Exceptional Education Department Location: BOCES Smith School DUTIES: Responsible for all aspects of teaching including but not limited to the development andimplementation of Next Generation Learning Standards/Curriculum for multiple subject areas,instruction, assessment, student supervision, home/school communication, Regents preparation and proctoring,etc. Provide excellent data collection and progress monitoring information in accordance with State and Federalregulation. Previous experience with students with emotional/behavioral disabilities preferred. Perform otherduties as required. Serve as a dynamic and thoughtful part of High School team serving students grades 9-12, in an 8:1:1 setting,with disabilities. Serve as a partner in the self-contained Turning Point program, a day treatment program forstudents with internalized behaviors and mental health concerns. Engage in close collaboration withcounselors, teachers and teaching assistants to support students in grades 9 and 10 to work toward diploma andtransition requirements. *This position requires the ability and desire to work with school age students with learning, emotional andbehavioral disabilities in an 8:1:1 BOCES setting. QUALIFICATIONS: Must be New York State Certified Students with Disabilities 7-12 Generalist OR hold permanent NYS Special Education Cert K-12 AND NYS 7-12 certification in at least 1 content area OR Statement of Continued Eligibility (or limited extension) in at least 1 subject area OR NYS Certified Students with Disabilities 7-12 with dual certification 7-12 in at least 1 subject area (ELA, Social Studies, Math) START DATE: September 1, 2022. SALARY: $50,000.00 (2022-2023 base salary) plus additional salary credit for appropriate prior experience, Masters Degree and Grad Credits. Excellent benefits are available.
