Duties: Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES is seeking Teacher Aides or Teaching Assistants to work one-on-one in small group settings with students that have behavioral challenges to deescalate crisis situations.Provide program-wide, active response to instructional staff when a crisis situation emerges;Complete post event debriefing and associated paperwork documenting a crisis situation including but not limited to situations when students present a danger to oneself or others;Provide turnkey training to staff members and parents on research-based intervention strategies.There will be a $6,000 annual stipend in addition to the base salary for this appointment.Qualifications: Crisis Intervention Specialists must maintain their Therapeutic Crisis Intervention certification in order to remain in their role and receive their stipend. To be considered for a Teaching Assistant Crisis Intervention Specialist, candidates must have valid NYS Teaching Assistant certification.Characteristics Desired: Positive, can-do attitude with the ability to work in collaboration with their peers and in a team-based environment. Effective oral and written communication skills. A commitment to the PNW BOCES mission of service and innovation through partnership.
