Duties: Putnam/Northern Westchester BOCES anticipates the need for a full-time, leave replacement to serve as the Regional Coordinator of Literacy and Teacher Center Services. Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:Design, coordinate, lead, and facilitate (when applicable) literacy workshops to support regional needs, goals, and priorities;Coordinate in-district support with a team of literacy partners;Support growth of literacy partnership development including growing relationships with Wilson, The Rose Institute, and others;Serve as Director of the Hudson River Teacher Center;Oversee and support the Intern Partnership Program;Coordinate the Young Authors Program;Maintain positive communication with districts, BOCES, outside organizations, and partners as required;Expand and maintain relationships and memberships in relevant professional organizations to build capacity to provide cutting-edge curriculum and instruction services;Attend professional conferences and NYSED subject-specific meetings and trainings when available;Assist with implementation, development, and/or delivery of any ad hoc projects as assigned by the Director.Qualifications: The successful candidate must have:A thorough understanding of the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards for ELA;New York State teacher certification as an elementary educator or in the field of literacy;New York State School District Leader certification preferred;Minimum of three years of experience teaching elementary or secondary level literacy;Literacy coaching experience preferred;Expertise in curriculum design and development, and data-based decision-making experience preferred;Outstanding facilitation, verbal communication, and writing skills, and experience providing effective professional learning.Characteristics Desired: Must be organized and exhibit strong planning skills and follow-through.Must have strong interpersonal skills to work well with students, teachers, administrators, and support staff from a wide variety of schools and districtsMust be an innovative self-starter with entrepreneurial skills preferred.
