Nurses Middle College Charter High School - Capital Region (NursesMC-CR) is seeking a dedicated and dynamic Teaching Assistant to support classroom instruction and student learning. The Teaching Assistant will work closely with lead teachers to foster a positive learning environment, provide academic support, and ensure the success of all students. This role is instrumental in maintaining the NursesMC Pillars of Nursing: character, scholarship, compassion, empathy, and professionalism.ABOUT THE ORGANIZATIONNursesMC-CR is on a mission to transform lives by putting students from underrepresented backgrounds on a path to nursing careers. Our unique model empowers students to thrive academically and professionally in nursing and healthcare careers.RESPONSIBILITIESClassroom Support:Assist teachers with instruction, assessments, behavior management and other classroom responsibilities.Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring daily.Lead small group intervention and student support, with the potential for teaching small groups of students.Track student attendance and class schedules.Ensure classrooms are safe and tidy before and after student departure.Student Supervision:Supervise students during transitions, arrival, dismissal, breakfast, and lunch.Support the teacher of record in managing student behavior and reducing risks in the classroom, escalating issues when necessary.Administrative Duties:Provide administrative support, including making copies, organizing classroom materials, and monitoring hallways.Participate in grade-level activities, school-wide events, and field trips.Communication:Communicate effectively with students, families, and colleagues to foster a supportive and collaborative learning environment.Compliance and Safety:Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, including those of the NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and Office of Children and Family Services.Follow all organization policies and support NursesMC’s mission, vision, and values.Other Duties:Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the teacher of record or Principal.QUALIFICATIONSBachelor’s degree preferred, but not required.Teaching Assistant certification (or willingness to pursue).Bilingual in Spanish preferred.Experience working with high school students, particularly in urban or charter school settings, is preferred.Excellent organizational, communication, and time-management skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple responsibilities.Commitment to racial and educational equity and continuous improvement for all students.Criminal background clearance required.In addition to applying on OLASApplication Process: Please submit a cover letter and resume to Betty Suiter-Graham, Business Operations Manager at bgraham@nursescr.org or call 518-907-0101.
