To support students and to ensure optimal student learning. To remain responsible for students assigned to their specific classroom. To supervise all students in common areas of the school when not assigned to a specific responsibility during the day. Follow regular teachers’ lesson plans in a way that ensures consistency and optimal learning, and that encourages students to participate; Modify teaching styles to fit the learning styles of individual students; Maintain a well-managed classroom and positive learning environment; Supervise students out of class such as in the hallways and in the cafeteria; Supervise and support students in a virtual classroom, as needed; Create lesson plans, grade classwork, homework and tests and attend parent-teacher conferences (only for long-term sub assignments); Take attendance and document daily notes; May have to develop lesson plans, curricular materials, and supplementary materials compatible with the school’s mission and vision and congruent with the Common Core State Standards as needed; Provides individualized and small group instruction in order to provide opportunities for all students to demonstrate competency with content and skills expected; Provide dual language support as needed and to the extent possible; Differentiate lessons, units, assessments, etc. based on the needs of each student; Implements ILP, PLP, IEP, 504, ELL plans as indicated by lesson plan; Document accommodations and modifications as necessary. Special Requirements: At least one (1) year of teaching experience in a high school is required; Experience in an urban charter school setting is preferred, but not required. For Day-to-Day Substitutes (employed on a temporary basis, for fewer than forty (40) days on the same assignment) must possess: a minimum of two (2) years of college completion and on track to a four (4) year degree; An Associate’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university; or a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university; For long-term Substitutes (employed on a temporary basis, for more than forty (40) consecutive days in the same assignment) must hold an appropriate certificate for the assignment; Effective September 2023, Substitute Teachers who do not hold a valid teaching certificate and are not working towards certification are permitted to exceed the 40-day limit: Up to 90 total days in a school year if the district Superintendent or the Superintendent (for school districts that are not a component district of a BOCES) certifies that the employer has conducted a good faith recruitment search for a properly certified candidate and determined that there are no available certified teachers that can perform the duties of such position; or Beyond 90 days, if the district Superintendent or the Superintendent attests that a good faith recruitment search has been conducted, that after 90 days there remain no available certified Teachers who can perform the duties of such position, and that a particular Substitute Teacher is needed to work with a specific class or group of students until the end of the school year.REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR ALL NURSESMC™-CR EMPLOYEES: All employees must provide a current criminal background clearance (fingerprints); Proof of U.S. Citizenship, residency or work visa required; Current licensure/certification if required for the specific position.
