Description:The Nassau BOCES Department of Special Education is seeking an experienced special education administrator with strong leadership, interpersonal and organizational skills. The successful candidate must have demonstrated abilities in working with students with special needs that include autism, cognitive, social/emotional, behavioral and learning needs. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Working under the supervision of the Assistant to the Superintendent, implement all school-wide functions, oversee day-to-day operations and provide instructional support and supervision to administrators, teachers and related service staff.Monitoring and revising curriculum maps, behavior protocols and related services reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance with Medicaid Regulations.Ensuring all goals, services, etc., mandated by the IEP, are appropriately implemented.Maintaining effective communication with students, parents, colleagues, districts and community agencies.Providing staff development for teachers, teacher aides and related services staff.Conducting observations and evaluations of staff and performing related duties assigned by department leadership.Requirements:NYSED Certification: SAS/SDA or SBL. SDL certification is preferred.5 or more years of teaching experience with demonstrated administrative experience is preferred.Experience in Special Education related to emotional, learning and developmental disabilities is highly preferred.Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and knowledge of behavioral strategies/interventions and teaching methodologies.Comprehensive understanding of the New York State Next Generation Learning Standards and New York State Alternate Assessments, as well as the use of data/technology to inform instruction.A strong understanding of Federal & State Special Education laws, regulations and policies.*** IN ADDITION TO APPPLYING ON OLAS, ALL APPLICANTS MUST VISIT THE NASSAU BOCES Employment Opportunities PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION ***
