*** IN ADDITION TO APPLYING ON OLAS, ALL APPLICANTS MUST VISIT THE NASSAU BOCES Employment Opportunities PAGE TO COMPLETE THEIR APPLICATION ***The Nassau BOCES Department of RSIP is seeking a part-time and/or full-time New York State certified Clinical/Administrative Medical Assisting teacher to instruct high school students in a career setting. The successful candidate shall teach clinical and administrative medical assisting as well as front end medical administrative assisting. Topics covered by the teacher include anatomy, physiology, nutrition, infection control, safety, medical emergencies, medical terminology/medical coding, and the skills required to assist doctors in all phases of medicine and the skills needed for medical and allied health career Responsibilities include to: Prepare lesson plans and course outlines incorporating extensive hands-on instruction to prepare students for employment in medical offices, hospitals, and other health related facilities. Appropriate management of a classroom environment together with the ability to design instruction to meet the needs of each learner. Use of technology to enhance instruction. REQUIREMENTS: New York State Education Department Certification: Transitional A, Initial or Professional in Medical Assisting (7-12). Minimum of 5 or more years of practical experience in the field, or a certified Teacher of Medical Assisting with at least 3 years of teaching experience.Strong background in 21st Century healthcare.
