With a population of approximately 300 students, Menands Union Free School District is a unique Pre-K-8th grade school. We are a very supportive school community, and work collaboratively to meet the diverse needs of our students in a nurturing environment. Menands School is accepting applications for a full time probationary School Social Worker who is passionate about supporting the social, emotional, behavioral and mental health needs of students. The successful candidate will:Provide counseling services to students with IEPs/504 plansFacilitate short-term solution-focused student groups centered on such topics as school adjustment, attendance, social skills, and anxietyWork with students and staff on proactive de-escalation strategies and positive reinforcement plansRespond to crisis situations and play a lead role in the post-incident debriefing processAssist classroom teams in establishing an appropriate data collection method for purposes of analyzing the data for developing FBA’s and subsequent BIPS and building in monitoring checkpointsProvide ongoing support for parents and families regarding community based services and resourcesWork closely with our school counselor and psychologist, and be an integral member of the instructional support team. Interested candidates should have NYS School Social Worker certification (LCSW preferred). Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience and who are willing to become involved in extracurricular activities and be a contributing member of the school community.
