POSITION SUMMARY: The Physical Education teacher, under the supervision of the Supervisor of Educational Enrichment, will provide an activelearning environment where all students can excel academically, physically and socially. PRIMARY DUTIES: Establish a culture of high expectations that includes the shared belief that every student can work hard, and excel academically, physically and sociallyDevelop and implement lesson plans and class activities for Physical Education and Health classes aligned with New York State StandardsAssess students regularly and analyze student results; refine and differentiate classroom instruction based on assessment data and student needsCollaborate with colleagues to improve instructional practices throughout the school; share best practice.Manage student behavior to ensure every student is fully engagedActively participate in professional development activities, and work closely with the Upper School Principal, Athletic Coordinator, and sports coachesMaintain accurate student records, including attendanceIdentify unique student needs and collaborate with peer teachers to effectively address those needsPerform other related duties as required and assigned. REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES:Ability and willingness to reflect and improve instructional practices Compassionate and Passionate; Results-driven and goal orientedExcellent classroom management skills. Provide positive behavior intervention with supportEffective interpersonal communication skills with colleagues, parents, and studentsKnowledge of subject matterAmerican Sign Language (ASL) proficiencyKnowledge of child cognitive development and various learning stylesPrior knowledge of Thinking Maps and SchoologyStrong Google Suite skills preferredEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Physical Education and/or Health Education credential requiredExperience working with deaf studentsMaster’s degree SECURITY CLEARANCE: Required clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, SCR, and SEL clearance PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Must have the ability to sit and stand for prolonged periods of timeMust possess the physical ability to demonstrate and participate in all class activitiesMust be able to lift 15 pounds at timesApply on OLAS
