Position: Mathematics Specialist Division: Curriculum and Instruction Supervisor: Executive Director of Curriculum & Instruction Position Type: 10 month + ESY-Benefit EligibleFLSA Status: Exempt CFR: 215 Salary Range: $70,000 - $90,000 SUMMARYThe math specialist provides K-12 model lessons and assists with planning lessons and units. Also, the specialist is expected to assist with materials, resources and data as part of the Curriculum, Instruction, & Assessment Team which provides professional development for teachers to address curriculum, teaching strategies, trends, and data analysis. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:Collaborate with the principal/supervisor to observe classroom instruction and provide feedback and assistance to classroom teachers to facilitate improvement, innovation, and transition planningAs a regular member of the Curriculum Team, gather and use data to analyze student performance, growth rate, and grade-levelStay current with the latest research and share current information and other resources with staffBe aware of trends in instructional methods and educational technologyKeep teachers/families, administrators informed of student progressCoordinate efforts to include students in academic competitionsPerform data analysis to ensure quality curriculum and student progress related to content specific programsPerform other duties as assigned REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIESCollaborative leadership skillsTechnology literacy with knowledge of database managementASL proficiency EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEMaster’s degree in Deaf Education or related fieldNew York State Teaching CertificationNew York State Mathematics CertificationMinimum three years math teaching experience5 years teaching experience in an educational setting SECURITY CLEARANCERequired clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed and SCR and SEL clearance.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTProlonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
