Position: Career Education TeacherDivision: Curriculum and InstructionSupervisor: Upper School Principal Employment Term: 10 monthsFLSA Status: ExemptCFR: 263Salary Range: $46,807 - $102,700 SUMMARYThe Career Education Teacher will design, implement, and deliver the Career Education curriculum appropriate for middle and high school students, guiding and encouraging students to develop and fulfill their academic potential, transition planning, & career decision-making. DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES Develop and implement a solid motivating curriculum for middle and high school students Modify lesson plans and materials as needed to make them suitable for students’ current learning levels Integrate technology (Schoology, Google, and CDOS Online) into the classroom Develop teaching and learning materials for use in class, including lesson plans, exams and homework, homework and projects, and assignments that use all student skills. Maintain and document employment profiles and career plans for students Maintain relationships with families and legal guardians of students to keep them informed of their child’s progress toward their career and transition plans Work with students individually to support the decision-making process when deciding on pathways Supervise students outside of the classroom—for example, field trips, transition, and vocational programs, or school-related events Collaborate with Career and Transition Coordinator with students’ transition plans: pathways Work with the Career and Transition Coordinator to implement an annual Career Fair Monitor and track student progress and issue grades Conduct and submit each student’s (14 years & up) Career Education IEPs and Transition Plan Work collaboratively with other teachers and administrators, including related service providers, to provide individualized support for each student on a regular basis Collaborate with other teachers to share best practices and provide meaningful feedback regularly Create and enforce a positive culture of learning, respect, and rapport Other duties as assigned REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES Knowledge of American Sign Language Strong communication and interpersonal skills Experience working with a diverse group of students Knowledge of work-based learning EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Master’s degree in Deaf Education or related field. New York State Teaching Certification. SECURITY CLEARANCE Required clearances include medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed and SCR and SEL clearance. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
