SUMMARY:The Speech Language Pathologist promotes communicative and linguistic competence and optimizes outcomes for profoundly deaf students 3-21 years of age.DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:Job responsibilities include but are not limited to:• Planning and implementing individualized intervention strategies that foster communicative competence.• Collaborating/consulting with classroom teachers.• Selecting and conducting appropriate assessments based on individual student needs.• Preparing evaluation summaries and annual review reports.• Develop treatment plans (IEPs) that are strength-based for overall educational improvement.• Participating in IEP meetings.• Engaging in continuing education and professional growth activities.REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:• Excellent verbal and written communication skills• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including proficiency in English and American Sign Language (ASL)• Excellent interpersonal skills• Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail• Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills• Ability to prioritize tasks and delegate them when appropriate• Proficiency in American Sign Language required.• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related softwareEDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:• Candidates must have the following credentials:• CCC-SLP (Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology)• Master’s Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program• ASHA membership• TSHH or TSSLD certificate• Knowledge of American Sign Language• Experience working with Deaf students is desirableSECURITY CLEARANCE:• Required clearance includes medical clearance, fingerprinted by the NYC Board of Ed, and SCR and SEL clearancePHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerProlonged periods of walking around in and outside of the buildingMust be able to lift 15 pounds on occasionApply on OLAS
