The Spire SchoolEnglish Teacher- High School Spire School in Stamford, CT, is actively recruiting for an English Teacher for the remaining 2024-2025 School year. Two to five years of teaching experience with high school or experience teaching in a special education classroom it is a significant plus. Spire is a State-Approved Special Education school, grades 8 -12, for students with social and/or emotional challenges that impact the student's ability to thrive in a typical academic setting. Our model of individualized social-emotional wellness plans and our small group academic setting (classes are typically 6:1, some are smaller) makes us unique, and 80% of our students are district-placed. Candidates for the position must have a demonstrated passion for teaching and a collaborative style to work on a team prepared to meet the individualized needs of each student enrolled in our school. If you have had experience with this type of differentiated instruction, writing IEPs, coaching students, and daily challenges then you are a candidate for this position. Our school has 60-65 students enrolled and has a strong, established team of leaders, teachers, and Life Coaches who collaborate for the common goal of having each child reach their full personal potential. The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:Bachelor’s degreeCandidates must hold/or be eligible for a valid State of Connecticut state teacher certification in English (015) or equivalent. 165 State of Connecticut endorsement is preferred as well.Minimum of 2 years of experience teaching special education student populations with social-emotional challenges (preferred)Familiar with the IEP process and the collection of progress monitoring dataCreate and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for students’ social, emotional, and executive functioning needs.Commitment to helping children of all abilities reach their full potential.Excellent written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, enthusiastic style to fit with our small, but dedicated team.
