Number of Positions : 1 Salary : $49,202 - $69,480, commensurate with experienceLocation: Varies Work Hours: Monday - Friday; 8:00 - 2:45A dual-certified teacher of both Physical Education and Health will provide instruction in both adaptive physical education and middle and high school health classes for students in BOCES Exceptional Learners programs. The teacher will be knowledgeable about modifying programs for students with disabilities in self-contained classrooms.Plan and implement a balanced physical education and health program based on approved curriculum and NYS StandardsIncorporate adaptive equipment and differentiated instructional materials for individuals and small groups of studentsCreate a classroom environment that fosters, promotes and develops an understanding of the relationship of healthy body function and exerciseMotivate each student to cultivate physical fitness and appropriate social and emotional adjustmentHelp students develop strength, skill, agility, and coordination in individual and team physical activities, in accordance with each student’s abilityProvide appropriate safety instruction and make safety checks on equipment and field areas to ensure the overall safety of studentsEstablish and maintain standards of student behavior in accordance with approved classroom management procedures, and provide an orderly, productive environment in the physical education areaEvaluate and report academic growth of students at regular intervals, and record attendance and other required dataParticipate in the professional community by communicating regularly with administration and staff, assisting with problem-solving around student issues, and maintaining appropriate training and professional developmentMinimum RequirementsCandidates must hold, or be eligible for, New York State Teacher Certification in Physical Education and HealthDiverse candidates are encouraged to apply
