Number of Positions: 1Salary: $90,000-$95,000 Location: Ballard Road Conference Center, WiltonWork Hours: Monday-Friday 8:00am-4:00pmProviding guidance to component school districts in the implementation of policies and procedures related to data privacy and security and support the administrative staff under their supervision. Providing leadership and oversight to school districts under the jurisdiction of BOCES in the organization, analysis and evaluation of districts' compliance with Education Law 2-D, and the Parents Bill of Rights. Consults with school districts on their needs in terms of data privacy and security and provides assistance in the development and implementation of policies and procedures.Serves as the primary contact for component districts for data privacy and security;Supervises and coordinates the development and implementation of the districts’ Parents Bill of Rights and DataSecurity and Privacy Policies involving key district stakeholders;Collaborates with district technology committees to develop strategic data privacy plans that incorporate best practices incompliance procedures;Researches local, state and national standards and best practices in data privacy and integrates this information intotraining programs and support provided to component school personnel and BOCES;Oversight in the investigations of all component district data breach complaints. Supports the Shared Data ProtectionOfficer(s) in making recommendations for resolutions;Provides staff development and training opportunities to component school districts and BOCES data privacy asidentified by the component school districts and BOCES. Monitors and reports on progress and analyzes reasons forvariance in each component district;Serves as a liaison with technology resources and networks, including the New York State Education Department onchanges to Education Law 2-D and facilitates communication and sharing among shared data protection officers;Represents the BOCES on various local and statewide data privacy and security committees;Provides access to resources and programs available to school districts for professional development and instructionalsupport in the area of data privacy and security;Presents best practices in data privacy, support and integration to component school district audiences of teachers,administrators and Board of Education members, as requested;Develops a vision and plan to provide program options that will meet the needs of the component school districts in theareas of data privacy and security;Perform other tasks as assigned by the BOCES Leadership Team (Director and/or Cabinet level).Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a STEM related discipline, Data Management, Cybersecurity, or Public Policy AND a minimum of five (5) years of successful experience working with school district data and/or technology (e.g. Technology Coordinator, Chief Information Officer, Data Warehouse Specialist) with increasing levels of responsibilities ORMaster's degree in a STEM related discipline, Data Management, Cybersecurity, or Public Policy AND a minimum of three (3) years of successful experience working with school district data and/or technology (e.g. Technology Coordinator, Chief Information Officer, Data Warehouse Specialist) with increasing levels of responsibilitiesNote: Vacancies are filled by a certified list provided by Washington County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Washington County to obtain a permanent appointment.
