Number of Positions: 1Salary: $85,400-$90,960Location: Southern Adirondack Education Center, Hudson FallsWork Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pmProvides leadership and supervision for the WSWHE BOCES Exceptional Learners Division under the supervision of the Principal of Special Programs at SAEC. Responsible for overall student management on campus. Support building principal in planning and implementing all facets that lead to a better educational program for all students. Other related duties as may be required or directed.Provide instructional leadership for the ELD programs;Be well versed in the Boys Town Classroom Management Model;Review Boys Town data and develop trainings to ensure fidelity of model. Work in consultation with the Boys Town Principal and Principal for Special Programs on Boys Town model;Counsel students and parents about school and BOCES policies;Ensure appropriate student assessment procedures in keeping with State Education Department mandates, as well as reviewing assessment results and making proper program adjustments;Provide leadership for student behavior management systems, plans, training and implementation;Provide campus coverage support as needed;Implement BOCES policies, procedures and State Education Department mandates;Conduct professional performance reviews of all instructional and non-instructional staff under his/her supervision, in accordance with the Annual Professional Performance Review Plan and the collective bargaining agreement; develop and monitor employee improvement plans as necessary;Provide leadership for the continual professional development of staff (individually and groups), to ensure a well-informed staff;Assure the health, safety and welfare of students and staff, within the framework of BOCES Board Policy, administrative guidelines and emergency management procedures;Assist staff and parents in developing student behavioral expectations;Assist in the planning, developing, and implementing of individual student behavior plans;Assist in monitoring and supervision of school facilities, in concert with the Principals;Assist the Principal in the overall administration of educational programs and implementation of BOCES mission;Monitor the reporting of student attendance/discipline concerns and collaborate with staff to develop strategies for addressing such concerns;Resolve discipline problems according to WSWHE BOCES Code of Conduct;Confer with students, home school, parents, teachers, counselors and support services personnel in resolving these issues;Assist in the orientation of faculty and staff;Communicate effectively in oral and written form, and with individuals of varied cultural and educational backgrounds;Perform such record keeping functions as the Principal may direct;Perform such other tasks and assume such other responsibilities as directed by the Principal.Minimum Requirements:Master's Degree;Valid NYS teaching and administrative certification (SBL, SDA, or SAS);Five (5) years of successful teaching or prior job-related experience with increasing levels of responsibilities in school setting;Ability to manage students and programs, communicate effectively, and problem solve;Knowledge of discipline procedures, safety procedures, district policies, and special education regulations, preferred;Knowledge of research based best practices, preferred;Has demonstrated competence in collaboration with and leadership of staff members;Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
