To provide professional nursing services that enhance the entire school community’s health and well-being. Serve as an advocate for students, families, and the school community. Provide age-appropriate and culturally congruent care to students and the school community. Demonstrate high levels of competence in the area of school nursing and adhere to high ethical standards. To support the health, well-being, and academic success of students in keeping with the standards of nursing. The services provided by the School Nurse include health care delivery, health counseling, and health program and policy development. School Nurses coordinate the School Health Program through communication and collaboration with the following individuals: School Staff, Parents, Students, and Community resources.Qualifications:Graduation from a school of nursing approved by the state education department. Licensed as a Registered Nurse by the State of New York.Calendar of Employment:Dates of employment include the school year calendar as approved by the Board of Education plus additional days for a total of 220 days. The additional 37 days will be specific to the dates of the Extended School Year (ESY) and preparation for ESY and the opening of school. Dates will be identified each year specific to the ESY and school year calendars.Work Hours: 8:00am-2:30pm
