Donald Myers Education Center, Saratoga SpringsWork Hours : Monday - Friday 8:00 am-2:45 pmTo coordinate with BOCES and home school personnel on matters relating to the recruitment, performance and placement of students involved with Career and Technical Education programs which includes career planning opportunities, collaboration with instructors, serve as liaison to district school counselors, and coordinate school counselor related activities associated with CTE programs. To support and promote the success of all students enrolled in CTE programs. Coordinate, counsel and communicate with students, parents, home district and school personnel as indicated regarding issues students may have related to participating in CTE programs; Coordinate a comprehensive program of pupil information and recruitment;Provide guidance and counseling services for students enrolled in CTE programs;Provide and maintain accurate, up-to-date cumulative records that include anecdotal remarks, grades, progress reports, attendance data and other pertinent information helpful in assisting and supporting a student's progress in their CTE program;Conduct school counseling related surveys and studies as directed by the Principal;Conduct exit interviews with all students not continuing with their CTE program and convey results to CTE principal and home school personnel;Assist students in understanding career and post-secondary options and provide resources and opportunities for students to make career focused decisions;Meet with representatives of Occupational Training Programs and component schools to familiarize them with BOCES programs which lead to a high school diploma;Assist the Principal in determining new programs to meet the needs of the students and the target population;Develop systematic process to assist and support teachers in identifying gaps and patterns related attendance, motivation, work completion, and behavioral issues, and collaborate to develop strategies and interventions to improve outcomes;Meet periodically with case managers assigned to students with disabilities and adults enrolled in the BOCES program;Be available as a resource to assist instructional staff with individuals and small groups of students in developing job seeking skills, including interviewing techniques, completing job applications and writing resumes;Gather information about BOCES CTE Programs, financial aid, military services, post-secondary education options and provide that information to students and parents;Assist in the planning of Open House, a reception and/or graduation exercise to honor completers of the program;Maintain a daily log and review plans with the Principal as requestedOther duties as assignedMinimum RequirementsNYS School Counselor CertificationDiverse candidates are encourage to apply.
