Number of Positions: 1Salary: $49,202 - $69,480, commensurate with experienceLocation: Varies, Some travel requiredWork Hours: Varies with district The Transition Specialist/ Work-Based Learning Coordinator will work with districts and programs within the WSWHE BOCES Exceptional Learner Division to provide technical assistance, support and consultation to teachers, school teams, CSEs, and students and families related to Post-Secondary Transition and Work-Based Learning Opportunities.Create, implement, and monitor systems for documenting transition and credential requirements for graduation in compliance with NYSED and federal guidelinesImplement systems to track student progress towards credential requirementsMonitor work based learning experiences in accordance with NYSED regulationProvide consultation and organizational support to create transition and work based learning opportunities for studentsFacilitate and organize post-secondary plans in coordination with CSE chairs, teachers, and/or school counselors.Conduct and/or provide training in career assessmentsProvide staff support for the development of transition sections in the IEPReview transition goals and provide feedback for implementation and improvementParticipate on the district transition team and/or CSE as well as BOCES school counseling teamAssist in the coordination of post-secondary services for students and families (including but not limited to ACCES-VR, OPWDD, Service Caseworkers)Stay up to date on NYSED graduation requirementsBuild and maintain partnerships with local businesses and community organizationsMinimum RequirementsValid teacher certificate in any title at the middle childhood education (grades 5-9), adolescence education (grades 7-12), All Grades level ORValid School Counselor certificate; ANDWork Based Learning Program Extension CertificateDiverse Candidates are encouraged to apply
