Number of Positions: 1Salary: Per SABEA Faculty ContractLocation: TBDWork Hours: TBD (.2 up to full-time)The classroom teacher is expected to plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in their assigned learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the principal or other designated supervisor. This position exists in our Innovative Programs/Young Scholars area and will be an itinerant position; work will be performed in our component school districts.Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning based on evidenced based practices;Adapt methods and materials to meet students’ individual needs and abilities;Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment;Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction;Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures;Provide appropriate feedback on work;Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies;Maintain accurate and complete records of students' progress and development;Update all necessary records accurately and completely as required by laws, district policies and school regulations;Evaluate and report on student progress at designated intervals according to established procedures;Maintain student attendance records in the prescribed manner;Prepare required reports on students and activities;Participate in faculty, team, school, district and parent meetings; Communicate necessary information regularly to students, colleagues and parents regarding student progress and student needs;Establish and communicate clear objectives for all learning activities;Prepare classroom for class activities;Provide a variety of learning materials and resources for use in educational activities;Observe and evaluate student's performance and development;Assign and grade class work, homework, tests and assignments;Maintain supervision necessary for general student safety and control;Participate in the development of curriculum and programs;Facilitate classroom team meetings to ensure all staff understand the role they play in the instructional and behavioral success of the students in the classroom;Cooperate with professional and non-professional staff of this school district and other school districts in collaborative activities;Serve as case manager for assigned students;Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds;Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails;Participate in appropriate professional activities;Preference will be given to those with a Gifted and Talented Extension;Other duties as assigned.Minimum Requirements:NYS Teaching Certification with Gifted & Talented extension, preferred;Diverse candidates are encouraged to apply.
