Number of Positions: 1Salary: $42,500 - $47,500 commensurate with experienceLocations: Ballard Road Conference Center, Wilton & Central Office (LaCrosse Street), Hudson FallsWork Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00am-4:00pmThe role of the IT Asset Manager is to oversee the physical management of technology assets (including hardware and software) for BOCES, and its component school districts. The IT Asset Manager will develop and implement procedures for tracking company assets to oversee quality control throughout their lifecycles. This includes planning, monitoring, and recording software and/or hardware purchases, entering all relevant information into asset tracking software and ensuring compliance with all IT asset related policies and procedures. The individual will also oversee the annual physical inventory for the BOCES IT assets and conduct site visits to component school districts to review IT assets and meet with designated district staff to conduct regular reviews of district IT assets. The work is performed under the general supervision of the Supervisor for IT Procurement. The IT Asset Manager may oversee the work of assigned support staff as required. Does related work as assigned.Formulate and implement processes and procedures for tracking and managing IT assets (hardware and software) throughout the entire lifecycle;Enter all software and hardware serial numbers or identification tags into asset management software and ensure information is up-to-date, accurate, and easily accessible;Perform regular inventories all IT assets including all relevant information such as serial number, asset tag number, location, date of acquisition, current value, etc.;Assist Purchasing/Procurement Manager in developing and implementing all purchasing policies and procedures, including those for equipment, hardware, and software;Follow all IT purchasing recommendations that support business goals, in collaboration with senior management and school district stakeholders;Establish policies and procedures for tracking mobile assets, such as laptops, Chromebooks, and other mobile devices;Explore opportunities for maximizing the end-of-life process to maximize return to the BOCES for surplus IT assets with remaining useful life, which will involve developing external relationships to implement plans for auctioning, recycling, or selling obsolete assets;Research and industry best practices for managing IT assets;Effectively communicate and provide bi-annual reports on IT assets to BOCES leadership.Skills and Abilities:Working knowledge with asset management software and/or inventory-tracking systems;Working knowledge of current IT technologies;Working knowledge of contract regulations and laws, including NYS OGS procurement requirements;General knowledge of accounting, finance, marketing, and logistics;Excellent contract management skills;Effective bartering and negotiation skills;Strong budgeting, inventory, and cost-management skills;Adept at conducting research into product and service-related issues; Ability to deal tactfully with vendors, suppliers, and contractors who provide a broad spectrum of products and services;Ability to conform to shifting priorities in company requirements, product demands, and purchasing timelines through analytical capabilities;Ability to elicit cooperation from a wide variety of sources;Ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies;Ability to work both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment;Ability to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment;Strong familiarity and technical competence with asset management software and/or inventory-tracking systems;Strong written and oral communication skills;Strong interpersonal skills;Excellent customer service skills;Persuasive, encouraging, and diplomatic.Minimum Qualifications:A. Possession of a bachelor’s degree in the field of Business Administration or related field and one (1) year of business office experience; ORB. Possession of an associate degree in the field of Business Administration or related field and three (3) years of business office experience; ORC. Graduation from high school or possession of an equivalency diploma and (5) years of business office experience. Note: Vacancies are filled by a certified list provided by Washington County Civil Service. Should no certified list be available, candidates appointed to this position will be serving in a provisional appointment in accordance with New York State Civil Service Law. The candidate must successfully complete a competitive examination and be eligible for appointment in accordance with Civil Service Law and the Civil Service Rules for Washington County to obtain a permanent appointment.
